The Welsh born actor started working at the age of 11 when he played the part of Gareth Wyn in a Welsh language soap opera called ‘Pobol Y Cwm’ (people of the valley) for the BBC in Wales. After three years of study at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art at age 23 went on to play ‘Pip’ in a BBC adaptation of ‘Great Expectations’. In 1999 he had his first taste of Hollywood when he played Kevin Shepard in ’102 Dalmatians’ alongside Glenn Close. It was on this movie that Ioan met his wife, the actress Alice Evans

Ioan was introduced to an American audience when he played 5th Officer Harold Godfrey Lowe aboard James Cameron’s ‘Titanic’ in 1997. We next saw him soon after in the title role in an mini series adaptation of C.S Forester novels ‘Horatio Hornblower’ for the A&E network. Before making the move to Los Angeles he played Lt. Beales in Ridley Scott’s ‘Black Hawk Down’ and the part of Dan Blakely in the horror thriller ‘The Gathering’ alongside Christina Ricci. Having moved to Los Angeles with his wife in 2003 he immediately landed the part of Lukas Gold, one of the leading roles in the CBS drama ‘Century City’ along Viola Davis, Nestor Carbonell and Hector Elizondo. Later that year he went to Ireland for 6 months to play Lancelot alongside Clive Owen and Keira Knightley in Antoine Fuqua’s epic retelling of ‘King Arthur’ for Disney, produced by Jerry Bruckheimer.

Ioan became Internationally known however when he was cast as Dr. Reed Richards aka Mr. Fantastic in the ‘Fantastic Four’ and ‘The Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer’ for 20th Century Fox with both movies grossing over $600 million dollars worldwide.

Ioan was most recently seen in the CW Network production of ‘Ringer’ alongside Buffy the Vampire Slayer herself, Sarah Michelle Gellar.
