Avan Jogia can next be seen leading the cast in the much anticipated, new drama series for ABC Family, “Twisted.” On the show Avan plays ‘Danny,’ a charismatic 16-year-old with a troubled past who reconnects with his two childhood friends when he returns to his hometown, only to find himself the prime suspect of a local murder. The show is produced by Gavin Polone (“Gilmore Girls,” Zombieland,”Curb Your Enthusiasm”) and will premiere June 11, 2013.
A Vancouver native, Avan landed his first acting role as ‘Danny’ on the award-winning TV movie drama “A Girl like Me: The Gwen Araujo Story,” directed by Oscar nominee Agnieszka Holland. Avan followed that with a recurring role on the SyFy Channel’s hit drama series “Caprica.” Avan demonstrated his range by shifting to comedy for a series regular role on CW’s “Aliens in America.” He recently received notice amongst a wide audience with his lead role as ‘Beck’ on the Emmy nominated and highly rated Nickelodeon series “Victorious.”
With a special interest in youth, human rights and equality, Avan lends his considerable enthusiasm to many charitable organizations. Visiting schools and contributing PSA’s as an Ambassador for the Peace First Organization. Hosting the PBS public service series “Reel Works” and founder of the nationally recognized charitable organization, Straight But Not Narrow (SBNN).
Avan has interest in all facets of the industry with success in producing, writing and directing the short films Alex and Compound. Cultivating his independent spirit with his aspirations to direct.
He currently resides in Los Angeles, California.
